Flicks on the Falls 2015 Schedule Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio

Standard

Flicks at the Falls at the Cuyahoga Falls riverfront center off of 2nd St. is so much fun!
There’s a spray pad (bring a cup or bucket! It’s so much fun!), portable toilets, a concession stand that has many options for a nominal charge, and the movie plays at sunset. Stadium style seating is available, but you can bring blankets or your own chairs, too. You can bring dry pajamas and change into them after the fountains and before the movie. There’s also a balloon artist that makes balloon creations for donations.
It’s handicap accessible and the movie and spray pad are free!
The schedule is posted below. We had a great time!
This fills up quickly, so I’d recommend getting there early.
Here’s the schedule:

Mentos & Diet Coke: Time for some messy fun!

Image

image

Making a diet soda and mentos geyser is one of those fun and surprising moments of childhood. You don’t expect it to be as explosive as it turns out to be and that’s the fun of it! Kids will love this simple, fun, and messy experiment, courtesy of Inside Out Motherhood 🙂

And here’s the way to bring the fun into Science! According to Wikipedia, “The potassium benzoate, aspartame, and carbon dioxide gas contained in Diet Coke, in combination with the gelatin and gum arabic ingredients of the Mentos contribute to the formation of the foam.” Here’s some more info to teach your kids the Whys and Hows of the experiment.
Have fun!

Check out this Flower Science Experiment for Kids: Glowing Flowers!

Image

I checked out a link in a homeschool group I was in (and then clicked another link, and another, and another…) and happened upon this super cool and simple experiment to try with kids! You don’t have to homeschool to try this. This would be so much fun at a party or a sleepover, or just for the heck of it!
Thanks to Fun At Home With Kids for sharing such a fun idea! A simple way to make glowing flowers that will blow your kids’ minds! This is a great jumping off point to teach how plants gets their nutrients, photosynthesis, etc…

I’m planning on taking the kids to check out Historic Sauder Village in NW Ohio and thought I’d share the info. It’s Ohio’s largest living-history village. You can visit with costumed guides and working craftsmen in more than 40 historic homes, community shops, farms and gardens. They also have great shopping and special events. Via their website: “For unique shipping year round, Sauder Village offers our Gift Shop, Lauber’s General Store, and the Quilt Shop. Also during the Historic Village’s open season the Village Trader & Herb Shop features unique items for purchase. Plenty of delicious food & treats options at the Barn Restaurant, Doughbox Bakery, Sweet Shoppe and Ice Cream Parlor.” They even have an Inn and Campground with great packages!

Up to 6 kids eat free at Earth Fare with paid adult meal on Thursdays!

Image

image

I just found this out on the Earth Fare website! The coolest part (for your child’s body) is that they offer many choices that can be made wheat free and offer healthy sides, such as carrots with hummus or ranch and grapes.
The coolest part (for your wallet) is that they allow up to 6 free kids meals with the $5+ adult meal purchase! If you’re short on funds, this would be a great healthy and cheap small birthday party. You could take the kids out to eat together for $5, then go to a local park.
*Kids must be present. At my local store, it’s from 4-8pm on Thursdays. You can check their site for a confirmation of the day and hours of this nearest you.

While you’re there, be sure to check their coupons and sign up for their mobile coupons! They even have an app and recipes that can be found on their site.

The best combination of all is saving while taking care of your family’s health 🙂

Five Great Ohio Bike Trails to check out with your family!

Link

This awesome article outlines 5 great Ohio Bike Trails. Depending on your children’s ages, some may be great options to get some exercise and enjoy the summer weather!
If your children and their friends are old enough, this would be a fun and free or cheap birthday party or kid event to hang out together and all get some exercise. Their parents could drop them off (be sure to remind the parents that all need a helmet!), everyone could ride the trails together and you can carry drinks and snacks (maybe bananas, freeze yogurt tubes the night before so they can thaw and soften during the ride, granola or trail mix and some water) then return to the starting point to be picked up and open presents. If you wanted to hand out favors, Target has bike horns or water bottles in their dollar section often during the summer months!
If you have any additional ideas, please feel free to share them!
